The fund primarily invests in undervalued municipal bonds that are exempt from federal income taxes, including the alternative minimum tax. It seeks to invest in securities that are rated Baa/BBB or better by S&P, Moody's, or Fitch. The fund's investment portfolio comprises investments in various industries, which include transportation, healthcare, utilities, housing/multifamily, and water and sewer. It was formerly known as Nuveen AMT-Free Municipal Income Fund. Nuveen AMT-Free Quality Municipal Income Fund was formed on November 21, 2002 and is domiciled in the United States.

New Mountain Finance Corporation is a Business Development Company. It specializes in investments in middle market companies and debt securities at various levels of the capital structure, including first and second lien debt, first-lien/unitranche loans, select second-lien loans, bonds, unsecured notes, bonds, and mezzanine securities. It seeks to hold its investments between five years and ten years. The fund prefer to have majority stake in companies.
