Halt reason codes
- T1News pending
- The company is about to release material news. Trading stops so everyone gets the news at the same time.
- T2News released
- The pending news is out. Trading stays halted briefly while the news spreads.
- T3News and resumption times
- The news is out and the exchange has set the times quoting and trading will resume.
- T12More information requested
- The exchange has asked the company for additional information before trading can resume.
- LUDPVolatility pause
- Limit up / limit down pause: the price moved outside its allowed band, so trading paused for at least five minutes.
- LUDSVolatility pause (straddle)
- Limit up / limit down straddle pause: quotes sat on both sides of the price band, so trading paused.
- MVolatility pause
- Volatility trading pause in a security listed on another exchange.
- H10SEC trading suspension
- The SEC has suspended trading in the security, typically for up to ten days.
- H11Regulatory concern
- Trading halted over a regulatory concern, often while the exchange or the SEC reviews the company.
- H4Non-compliance
- The company is not meeting listing requirements.
- H9Not current in filings
- The company is behind on required SEC filings.
- DSecurity deleted
- The security was removed from Nasdaq or the consolidated quote system, for example after a delisting or a merger closing.
- IPO1IPO not yet trading
- A new listing that has not opened for trading yet.

- The S&P 500 fell 7%, halting all US stocks for 15 minutes.
A limit up / limit down pause (LUDP) is the most common halt and usually lasts five minutes. News halts (T1, T2, T3) resume once the market has had time to digest the announcement. Regulatory halts (H10, H11, T12) can last days or longer.
