American Girl Introduces Daisy Davenport™, the 2027 Girl of the Year®, Encouraging Girls to Embrace Friendship, Teamwork, and Courage

Daisy arrives during a milestone year for American Girl as the brand celebrates its 40th anniversary and four decades of creating characters and stories that inspire children. Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, Daisy is American Girl’s first character from the state, a nod to the brand’s Wisconsin roots. Her story follows her to Camp Gowonagin, the same summer camp beloved Historical Character Molly McIntire™ attended decades earlier. When Daisy’s best friend is unexpectedly unable to attend camp with her, the "perfect summer" she imagined quickly changes as she navigates sleepaway camp on her own, from homesickness and new friendships to a fear of the dark and challenges with her cabinmates. Along the way, Daisy learns to step outside her comfort zone and discovers that being a great teammate is about more than being the star player.

The 2027 Girl of the Year comes to life with an 18-inch Daisy Davenport doll, featuring green eyes and long auburn-red hair with bangs. Daisy arrives ready for an active summer in a sporty purple T-shirt, dark blue pleated denim skort, purple tennis shoes, and striped socks. The collection includes fashions & accessories to play out Daisy’s Camp Gowonagin explorations:

Camp Adventures: At the heart of the collection is the Daisy Davenport Camp Cabin, inspired by Daisy’s own Badger Cabin #44 and designed to bring the sleepaway camp experience to life. The cabin sleeps two dolls and features bunk beds with pillows, blankets, and sleeping pads, along with an outdoor vanity with a sink and working mirror, a Camp Gowonagin flag, and more – creating the perfect setting for Daisy and her friends to settle in and make summer memories.

To ensure Daisy’s doll, accessories, and story are rooted in authenticity and relevance, American Girl collaborated with experts and advisors throughout the development process, including Laurie McMurray, a former co-director of the Adventure Program at Camp Daggett; Jackie Glascock, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at Cure SMA; and Sarah Bellish of Cure SMA’s Policy and Advocacy team, who brought her personal experience attending summer camp for children with disabilities to advise on Daisy’s camp friend with spinal muscular atrophy.

Over the summer, American Girl previewed Daisy’s story with Girl Scouts at the Girl Scouts Unite event in Washington, D.C., where they heard how Daisy discovered more about herself, formed new friendships, and tried new things at camp.
