Flexible onboarding workflows make it easier to deploy and scale backup across Mac fleets - while continuing to support silent installs, automation, and existing Jamf policies

Backblaze, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLZE), the high-performance capacity storage layer for AI, introduced updates to Business Computer Backup that change how Jamf admins deploy and manage backup across their environments - helping ensure endpoint data is consistently protected, not just managed.

The release builds on Backblaze’s existing Jamf integration, adding a more flexible way to onboard devices and users - especially in environments that aren’t perfectly centralized - so protection can be applied reliably across every endpoint.

"Together, Backblaze and Jamf give IT teams everything they need to manage and protect their Mac environments," said Natasha Rabinov, General Manager of Computer Backup at Backblaze. "What we're doing here is making sure backup is deployed and managed through the same workflows, so protection is consistent across every device without adding more work for IT."

For IT teams managing Mac fleets through Jamf, the practical impact is straightforward: simpler onboarding, fewer deployment failures, and zero additional complexity. Backblaze now supports two flexible methods to match devices to users—whether teams have clean user data upfront or need the system to detect logged-in users dynamically. Because backup now behaves like any other application in their Jamf environment, it can be deployed, configured, and managed using the same workflows and scripts teams already rely on. For small teams running large fleets, that means less time fixing onboarding exceptions and more confidence that devices are consistently protected.

"The hardest part of rolling out backup across a Mac fleet is matching every device correctly to the right user, especially when that data isn't perfectly clean," said Henry Patel, Chief Strategy Officer at Jamf. "As their environments scale, IT teams need a way to handle that matching dynamically so backup can reliably reach every device it's supposed to. That’s the problem Jamf and Backblaze are solving for our joint customers."

Availability and Pricing

The updated Jamf deployment approach is available now as part of Backblaze Computer Backup. Teams can test it by deploying to a small group of devices and validating the workflow in their own environment.
