After growing residential ARPU 20% year over year, BBT is extending the same experience-led strategy into the small business market with SmartBiz on the AI-native Calix One platform

Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX) today announced that BBT is extending their proven, experience-led growth strategy from residential broadband into the small business market by leveraging SmartBiz™ on the Calix One™ platform. After increasing residential average revenue per user (ARPU) 20 percent year over year, BBT has grown small business ARPU 13 percent in just nine months as SmartBiz adoption significantly exceeded their initial subscriber goal.

Calix One gives BBT a common platform to use subscriber and network insights across markets to understand distinct needs, deliver differentiated experiences, and drive growth. For small businesses, SmartBiz enables BBT to deliver a purpose-built experience with secure, reliable connectivity and simple network control without dedicated IT resources. Through the CommandWorx™ mobile app, business owners can easily manage staff and customer Wi-Fi, point-of-sale systems, and other critical connected devices.

With guidance from Calix Success™, BBT is also using network intelligence to strengthen those experiences. Leveraging Calix Operations Cloud, BBT identified residential and business subscribers affected by low optical light levels, resolved many issues within one week, and continued remediation for the rest. Looking ahead, the AI-native architecture of Calix One creates opportunities for secure, increasingly proactive workflows that can help service providers acquire subscribers, strengthen loyalty, grow revenue, and operate more efficiently.

Russell Moore, chief executive officer and general manager at BBT, said: "Small businesses need more than connectivity—they need secure, reliable experiences built around how they operate. With Calix as our innovation partner, we leveraged SmartBiz, the Calix One platform, and Calix Success to create a new engine for small business growth, building on the ARPU gains we achieved in our residential markets. That gives us even more ways to expand the value we deliver to the businesses and communities we’ve served for more than six decades."

John Durocher, chief operating officer at Calix, said: "The next era of broadband will be defined by the experiences service providers create around every subscriber. BBT understands that deeply, leveraging community insights to move beyond one-size-fits-all connectivity and deliver greater value for residential subscribers and small businesses alike. Calix One gives service providers a common platform to connect insights, execution, and operations. As its AI-native capabilities continue to expand, it will create new opportunities for service providers to act faster, operate more proactively, and deliver sustained value to subscribers, businesses, and the communities they serve."
