Intelligence agency secures flexible, global access to very-high resolution 35-centimeter imagery capacity for decision superiority

BlackSky Technology Inc. (NYSE: BKSY) won a six-figure Gen-3 On-Demand pilot imagery services contract with a new international intelligence customer, expanding the company’s operational footprint with a major sovereign partner in a critical strategic region.

"The rapid adoption of our advanced Gen-3 capabilities underscores a fundamental shift in how global defense and intelligence ministries utilize commercial space-based assets," said Brian O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. "By delivering best-in-class 35-centimeter resolution imagery with the flexibility and agility of BlackSky Spectra, we are providing strategic and tactical ISR services at industry leading speed and scale for decision superiority. Our fully automated, low-latency architecture compresses the decision loop, providing the highest-quality, time-diverse data exactly when and where it’s needed most to mitigate operational ambiguity."

Under the new short period-of-performance contract, the intelligence agency will gain flexible, global very high-resolution tasking capacity to monitor multiple locations with exceptional clarity. The integrated service feeds automated intelligence directly into cross-domain secure workflows, leveraging a growing constellation of operational Gen-3 satellites.

BlackSky's continued international expansion aligns with its established "land-and-expand" business strategy as Gen-3 pilot programs quickly scale into major, multi-year subscription commitments. As fast-moving geopolitical environments drive national security requirements, defense and intelligence customers are increasingly prioritizing immediate access to advanced commercial space-based intelligence capabilities as they develop sovereign systems. Because very high-resolution electro-optical imagery remains a scarce commodity globally, international entities are moving quickly to secure tasking capacity when and where they need it.

BlackSky’s vertically integrated satellite manufacturing and AI-driven software architecture offers secure, flexible access to imagery and AI-analytics through On-Demand and Assured subscription services or full sovereign systems. BlackSky maintains a steady deployment schedule for Gen-3 with plans for additional satellites on orbit by the end of 2026 that will continue to boost capacity, increase revisit rates and compress delivery timelines.
