EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Amendment No. 1 to Current Report on Form 8-K (this “Form 8-K/A”) amends the Current Report on Form 8-K of CKX Lands, Inc. (the “Registrant”) filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 4, 2021, (the “Original Form 8-K”). The Original Form 8-K reported the appointment of Lane T. MaMure to serve as a director of the Registrant effective August 5, 2021. Pursuant to Instruction 2 to Item 5.02 of Form 8-K, this Form 8-K/A is being filed solely to provide information called for in Item 5.02(d)(3) of Form 8-K that had not been determined at the time of filing of the Original Form 8-K.

On March 24, 2022, the Board of Directors of the Registrant appointed Mr. LaMure to its Audit Committee and its Nominating Committee.
