MGP Distillery Steps ‘Out of the Shadows’ with Launch of MGP

The brand’s inaugural release, MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows, is a collector-worthy straight bourbon whiskey that pays tribute to MGP’s decades-long influence on American whiskey as one of the industry’s most respected distillers. As one of the largest American whiskey producers, MGP has crafted spirits for hundreds of acclaimed brands and long been recognized by retailers, distributors, collectors and enthusiasts as a mark of quality—all while operating largely behind the scenes. Now, the legendary distillery is stepping forward to introduce itself directly to consumers with a bottle bearing its own name for the first time.

MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows, is a 111-proof, 10-year-old straight bourbon whiskey. Master distiller Ian Stirsman selectively blended barrels of the historic LBSV mash of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley to capture the character of the distillery’s signature high-rye whiskey. The barrels were aged for a full decade in Rickhouse G, one of the distillery’s most celebrated warehouses. On the nose, the whiskey offers butterscotch, burnt sugar, molasses, and cherry, opening into a palate of cherry cola, raspberries, chocolate, sassafras and leather, with a lingering finish of cherry cola and sassafras.
