Explanation of Responses:

1. Each Restricted Stock Unit ("RSU") represents the contingent right to receive one share of Brighthouse Financial, Inc. ("BHF") common stock.

2. Award for service as a Board member pursuant to the Brighthouse Financial, Inc. 2017 Non-Management Director Stock Compensation Plan. 2,837 RSUs were awarded for service as a Board member and 1,719 RSUs were awarded for service as independent Chairman.

3. The RSUs will vest on the earlier of the first anniversary of the grant date or the date of the 2026 annual meeting of stockholders of BHF.
