Wealth management and technology leader to drive growth, innovation and client experience

TD Bank U.S. today announced that Hardeep Walia has joined the company as Head of U.S. Wealth, leading the next phase of growth and innovation across the bank's U.S.-based wealth management business.

Walia joins TD with more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning wealth management and technology. He is the founder and former CEO of Motif Investing, where he spent a decade building and scaling a brokerage and investment management platform offering thematic portfolios, direct indexing and technology-enabled investing solutions. Following Charles Schwab’s acquisition of Motif, Walia built and led Schwab’s Personalized Investing Engineering organization and later led enterprise AI for the firm.

"Hardeep is bringing to TD a powerful combination of wealth management expertise, entrepreneurial leadership and technology innovation," said Leo Salom, President and CEO of TD Bank U.S. "His ability to translate innovation into trusted, scalable client solutions will be vital as we grow our advice-led relationships, strengthen our digital investing capabilities, and deliver more personalized experiences for clients."

Under Walia’s leadership, TD Wealth U.S. will continue to expand holistic advice and financial planning capabilities, enhance digital investing experiences, and strengthen the connection between banking and wealth services, making it easier for clients to access integrated solutions.

"TD has a strong foundation, a talented team, and a deep commitment to helping clients achieve their financial goals," said Walia. "The opportunity ahead is to bring together trusted advice, innovative technology and the full breadth of TD's capabilities. I look forward to working across the bank to deepen client relationships and make financial advice accessible to more people at every stage of their lives."

Earlier in his career, Walia held senior leadership roles at Microsoft, where he led the growth and transformation of large-scale services businesses. He has served on FINRA’s Technology Advisory Committee and Small Firm Advisory Board and advised U.S. Bank’s Ascent Private Capital Management. Walia holds Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses, an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. from Yale University.

Walia's appointment is effective October 5. He is based in New York and reports directly to Salom.
