The annual list honors organizations nationwide that demonstrate exceptional commitment to the health and wellness of their employees. Driven by genuine care for its Team Members and their families, U-Haul has become a staple on the list and achieved its previous high ranking of 15th in 2020.

U-Haul was founded by a Navy veteran and his wife in 1945. Headquartered in Midtown Phoenix since 1967, the industry leader in do-it-yourself moving and self-storage places a premium on offering Team Members an array of benefits and initiatives to address all five pillars of wellness: health, nutrition, mindset, fitness and financial success.

"I am incredibly proud of Team U-Haul and grateful to our Team Members for prioritizing their health and well-being," stated Jessica Lopez, U-Haul Chief of Staff. "This recognition belongs to them and reflects their honest feedback, personal commitment, and care for themselves and their families. We work every day to show how deeply we value our team. Our team gives so much to care for U-Haul customers, and this program means the world to me because it supports what matters most."

The Why Behind Wellness

At U-Haul, impactful wellness is about creating change that can last a lifetime. Everyone has areas where positive change can make a difference. The U-Haul Wellness program constantly evolves to meet people where they are on their personal journeys.

For some Team Members, it’s walking with coworkers during the network-wide Active Week. For others, it’s developing a sensible fitness routine with support from the Get Fit program.

U-Haul also empowers its team and their families to find mental or emotional support through the You Matter program; explore tools for better sleep through its Mindset App^® reimbursement program; and embark on a life-altering health journey through Virta^® — a proven treatment to reverse type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes while providing clinical weight-loss results. Coupled with many other initiatives, U-Haul Wellness makes better health attainable and sustainable.

U-Haul International recently moved into the U-Haul Tower at 20 E. Thomas in Phoenix, the third largest skyscraper in Arizona. The U-Haul Midtown Campus also features the two-story, 54,000-square-foot Shoen Family Conference and Fitness Center, which opened in 2021. The state-of-the-art complex built for Team Members and their families serves as an elite recruitment tool and features a basketball arena; on-site fitness classes with professional trainers; cardio and strength machines; free weights; a padded indoor track; a golf simulator; yoga and spin rooms; locker rooms with showers; conference and interview rooms; and more. For Team Members who live and work outside Phoenix, U-Haul offers a wide variety of wellness programs, gym membership reimbursements, and other tools designed to support their health and well-being.
