How to compare stock news services
Real-time stock news services look alike on their home pages and differ in the details: which plan is actually live, what the free tier hides, how alerts reach you. These are the questions we would ask any of them, us included. Our answers come straight from our plans and settings.
Updated November 7, 2026.
What does real time cost?
Many services put the delay on their cheaper tiers, so the plan you actually need can be the second or third one.
Quantisnow: Plus $69 a month or $51.75 a month billed yearly; Premium $420 a month or $315 a month billed yearly. Yearly saves 25%. Plus is the first real-time plan.
Can you try the real-time plan first?
A free tier on a delay tells you little about the live product.
Quantisnow: Yes. New accounts get 3 days of Plus free. A card is required and the first charge comes when the trial ends unless you cancel. Payments are non-refundable.
What does the free plan show, and how late?
Check the delay on each feed, not only the headline one, and whether there are ads.
Quantisnow: Every feed 3 minutes late, 5 followed tickers, email alerts on the same delay. It never expires.
How fast do alerts go out, and who measured it?
Speed claims are almost always the vendor's own numbers. Ask from what moment they start the clock.
Quantisnow: About 35ms from the source publishing to the alert leaving our servers, by our own measurement.
Which kinds of news are covered?
Press releases are common. Analyst rating changes, FDA decisions and insider filings are where services differ.
Quantisnow: Press release wires, SEC filings, analyst upgrades, downgrades and targets, FDA decisions, Form 4 insider trades, earnings, trading halts and dividend declarations, each tagged to tickers.
Is there an AI read on each item, and can you check the source?
A summary is only useful if the original document is one click away.
Quantisnow: Each filing and release gets an AI summary, impact score and sentiment, with a link to the original. An AI agent on every page answers questions from the same data.
Is the phone app a native app or a home-screen web app?
Some services offer a web page you add to your home screen instead of an app from the store. Both can push; ask which one you get.
Quantisnow: Native apps. iPhone: Public beta on Apple's TestFlight: anyone can install it from https://testflight.apple.com/join/fGjJ88p9, no waitlist. Needs iOS 16.4 or later. The App Store version is submitted and waiting for Apple's review. Android: Early access on Google Play: anyone can join the tester group with a Google account and install it from Play right away, no waitlist. A public Play listing follows Google's testing period.
How many tickers can you follow?
Watchlist caps on mid tiers are often lower than an active trader's list.
Quantisnow: 5 free, 250 on Plus, 500 on Premium, each with its own alert types.
Can alerts reach your own tools?
Retail plans rarely include webhooks or an API, and data licenses sold separately can cost far more.
Quantisnow: Premium sends every matching item as JSON to up to 5 URLs of your own, Slack or Discord. RSS is free for every feed, and an MCP server lets AI assistants such as Claude query the wire with your account.
Is there an audio squawk?
Some services have people reading news live through the session; others use text to speech.
Quantisnow: Squawk reads new headlines aloud with text to speech while a feed is open. We do not have a live human squawk.
Where another service can be the better pick
We are a small team and a narrow product. If any of these matter more to you than the answers above, look elsewhere first:
- Price to start. Some services sell a cheaper first tier, with news a little delayed, and some put real time below our Plus price.
- Free delay. Some free plans run a minute or so behind; ours runs 3 minutes behind.
- A live human squawk and a newsroom that breaks its own stories.
- Breadth: options, futures, crypto, charting and trading chat rooms in one place.
- Longer trials, up to two weeks.
- Store-listed apps with thousands of ratings. Ours are in public beta today.
- Years of public reviews. We do not have many yet.
Plus is $69 a month after a 3-day free trial, and the free account stays free. Something above out of date? Email contact@quantisnow.com.
