Key takeaways

  • Quantisnow runs a remote MCP server at https://www.quantisnow.com/mcp that AI assistants can connect to with your Quantisnow account.
  • You sign in with OAuth, so there are no API keys to create or paste.
  • Tools cover company search and profiles, news and filing search, full news items, quotes, daily price history, FINRA short volume, followed companies and your account.
  • News follows your plan - free accounts see items on the 3-minute delay, Plus accounts get them in real time.

Quantisnow has a remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so an AI assistant like Claude can search the wire, read filings, check quotes and manage your followed tickers on your behalf. Point your MCP client at https://www.quantisnow.com/mcp, sign in with your Quantisnow account, and the tools appear in your assistant.

What is the Quantisnow MCP server?

MCP is an open standard that lets AI assistants call tools on external services. The Quantisnow server exposes the same data you see on the site - news, SEC filings, FDA news, analyst ratings, quotes and short volume - as tools an assistant can call while it answers your questions.

How to connect

You need a Quantisnow account first. Sign up if you do not have one.

Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app)

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Quantisnow and paste https://www.quantisnow.com/mcp as the URL.
  4. Click Connect. A Quantisnow consent screen opens; sign in if asked and approve access.
  5. In a chat, enable the Quantisnow connector and ask a question, for example "What did insiders buy at ACME this week?"

Claude Code

Run this in your terminal, then follow the sign-in link it prints:

claude mcp add --transport http quantisnow https://www.quantisnow.com/mcp

Other MCP clients

Any client that supports remote MCP servers over streamable HTTP with OAuth can connect, including ChatGPT connectors, Cursor and VS Code. Add a remote server with the URL above and complete the browser sign-in when the client asks. Clients discover the OAuth endpoints automatically from the server's /.well-known metadata, so there is nothing else to configure.

Example prompts

  • "Summarize every 8-K ACME filed in the last month and flag anything under Item 5.02."
  • "Which of my followed companies had analyst downgrades this week?"
  • "Compare the short percentage for ACME over the last 20 trading days with its price."
  • "Follow every company in my portfolio list and tell me which ones had insider purchases recently."

Pair the assistant with the guides for context, for example Form 8-K explained or Short volume vs short interest.

Free vs Plus over MCP

The MCP server uses your account's plan. On a free account, news and filing results follow the same 3-minute delay as the site, and the server says so in the tool description. On Plus results are real time. Follow and unfollow work on any account, and changes show up on /follows right away.

Revoking access

Each client you approve gets its own token tied to your account. To cut a client off, remove the Quantisnow connector in that client. If you think a token has leaked, change your Quantisnow password and remove and re-add the connector.

FAQ

Is there a Quantisnow MCP server?

Yes. Connect any MCP client to https://www.quantisnow.com/mcp and sign in with your Quantisnow account. It works with Claude, Claude Code and other clients that support remote MCP servers with OAuth.

Do I need an API key to use the Quantisnow MCP server?

No. The server uses OAuth, so your client opens a Quantisnow consent screen and you approve access with your normal account. There are no keys to create or store.

Does the MCP server need Plus?

No. Any Quantisnow account can connect. Free accounts get news and filings on the 3-minute delay; Plus accounts get them in real time.

Can the assistant change anything in my account?

It can follow and unfollow companies for you. It cannot change alert delivery, billing or account settings.

Is the MCP server a replacement for webhooks?

No. MCP is for asking questions on demand through an assistant. For push delivery the moment an item hits the wire, use webhooks or push notifications.
